Colophon
Typography
This page is typeset using League Gothic, originally designed by Morris Fuller Benton for the American Type Founders Company in 1903. It was converted to OpenType by the League of Movable Type. Coding for usage as a web font provided by Font Squirrel.
The rest of the page is set in Helvetica / Arial. I'm not going to go into that whole thing, but if you haven't seen Gary Hustwit's documentary on Helvetica, you should.
Javascript
The homepage of the site uses EasySlider 1.7 for the thought bubbles, which reads from the jQuery library. The interior pages use Nivo Slider for the main image slideshow area, which then feed into Fancybox (Part of FancyApps), which is also used for the thumbnails later on the page. The Javascript for the right-hand side of the page was provided by James Cole.
Technology
This site was built on a MacBook Pro, using the Adobe Creative Suite v5.0, with the help of Firebug / Firefox for CSS tweaking. The illustrations were done with a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet. The photos for the home and interior page were taken with my iPhone4s. All of this was fueled by coffee from Filter Coffeehouse and Espresso Bar in Washington, DC.
