The Bay vs. The Bag

I Brake For Bags

One of the best perks of working at Free Range Studios was the opportunity to work with clients on campaigns that are easy to be passionate about. Working with Save The Bay, I was able to work on a campaign to stop the pollution of plastic bags into the San Francisco Bay. This project was in 2009, just as taxes on plastic bags were starting to hit more and more cities around the country.

This website was an opportunity to experiment with CSS "parallax" scrolling, a technique which layers background images that move at different speeds as you resize the browser window, giving a 3D-effect. I used this to show the expansive array of plastic bags that were under the surface of the water, while keeping to the playful nature of the video that accompanied the page. Check out the video and current live site here.
